John B. “Jack” Iglehart, 80, Garrison, died on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Garrison Hospital.
John Benjamin “Jack” Iglehart was born March 6, 1938 in Garrison, ND to John J. and Eleanor (Fischer) Iglehart. He attended school in Garrison and graduated from Garrison High School in 1956. He then went on to NDSU for 2 years where he was a member of the AGR fraternity.
Jack married Marlene Rime on February 27, 1960 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Garrison. They made their home west of Garrison, where they farmed and had a dairy business. They also raised their son and 6 daughters and everyone had their part in the day to day operations of the farm.
Jack was a busy body and as if the diary business didn’t keep him busy enough he could always be found out tending to his garden and also to his greenhouse that was a side business for many years. He also enjoyed planting trees and raising Silver and Amber fox. He also enjoyed flying, earning his commercial pilot’s license. Jack flew for many years before his health forced him to stop. During their years on the farm, Jack hosted many tours for 7th graders through the soil conservation. In his retirement, Jack slowed down enough to take the time to enjoy many days of hunting and fishing. Family was always Jack’s greatest joy, but a true love of his was his 1928 Model A Business Coop that he liked to take out on special occasions.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Marlene, Garrison; son, John M. Iglehart, Garrison; daughters, Karen (Joe) Zwieg, Lowry, MN, Kathy (Wally) Northrup, New Town, ND, Lisa Laib, Minot, ND, Mary (Todd) Goven, Turtle Lake, ND, Jenny (Mark) Roen, Douglas, ND, and Nancy (Dan) Peterson, Minot, ND; grandchildren, Joe (Samantha) Zwieg, Heidi (Bryan) Roers, Amanda Zwieg, Dustin Kovarik, Jerry, John and Jeff Laib, Clint (Monica) Goven, Donald and Ben Goven, Garret Roen, Levi Roen, and Jordan and Jessica Peterson; great grandchildren, Abby and Ashley Zwieg, and Hailey, Rachel, and Cody Roers; twin brother, James (Betty) Iglehart, Garrison; sister, Myrna (Kai) Hunt, Alexandria, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Katie Jo Kovarik, and nephew, Joe Iglehart.
