Carl Henry "Bud" Ackerman, 92, of Amarillo passed away Friday, June 08, 2018.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 10:30 am at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 6900 Hillside Rd. in Amarillo, with Joe Andrajack presiding. Interment will take place in Hoxie, Kansas at a later date.

Carl was born on November 08, 1925 in Hoxie, Kansas to Henry and Henrietta Ackerman. He was a World War II veteran who served in The United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. Carl married Janese Follis in 1952. Together, they enjoyed traveling the lower 48 states and parts of Canada in their motor home. They were members of the Good Sam's Club and charter members of the Yellow Rose Chapter. They provided motor home support for 16 years for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics. They have resided in Amarillo since 1972 and were Charter Members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Janese, his parents, his mother and father in law Anna and John Follis; two nephews, Elliot Follis and Steve Ackerman, and great-granddaughter Abigale Neely. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Nancy Harris and husband Jim of Corsican, TX; sons Douglas Ackerman of Amarillo, Jon Ackerman and wife Cindy of Amarillo, and Michael Ackerman and wife Kamie of Bertrand, NE; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many other family and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 6900 Hillside, Amarillo, TX 79106, in honor of Carl. Please visit www.griggsschoolergordon.com to sign the online guest registry.
