Ernestine Calkins Goldsberry died October 21, 2014 of complications due to Alzheimer’s at Prestige Assisted Living and Memory Care at Green Valley, Arizona.
She was born June 10, 1922, near Troy, Kansas to John and Bertha Abbett. Ernestine had six brothers and sisters; Clarence, Richard, Viola, Retha, Roy & John. In 1941 she married Jim Calkins. Mr. Calkins died in 1989. She moved to Green Valley, Arizona in approximately 1995 where she married Bill Goldsberry in 1997. Mr. Goldsberry died in 2013.
Mrs. Goldsberry has been a resident of Prestige for the past five years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include her only son, J.R. Calkins and his wife, Jean, of Maryville, Missouri; granddaughters Shannan Tramell and husband, Troy, of Yakima, Washington, and Adrianne Prevost and husband, Doug, of Anchorage, Alaska, and four grandsons, Jaiden Calkins, Anikin and Kage Tramell of Yakima, Washington; and Trey Strout of Anchorage, Alaska.
The body was donated to Research for Life. Cremation took place in Arizona. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s research. There will be no service.
