Lauris passed away Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, in St. Amant. Lauris was born in Baton Rouge on Dec. 10, 1956, to James H. and Evelyn G. Ackerman. He was 53 and a longtime resident of French Settlement. Thoughtful, compassionate and lots of fun, Lauris loved family, friends, fishing and hunting. His many wins in fishing tournaments are a testament to his skill and passion for fishing. A longtime member of Local 198, Lauris worked as a pipe fitter/welder and while at B.A.S.F. Chemical went into planning and estimating, then as P.S.M. project manager at Rex Technical Service and P. & l.D. project coordinator for Valero Refining Corp. Lauris was proud of his skill as a self-taught draftsman. Lauris is survived by his children, Joshua J. Ackerman and wife Misty, Jenny Ackerman and Lauren Ackerman; former wives, Carole Aydell Ackerman, mother of Josh and Jenny, and Sandy De Bate Ackerman, mother of Lauren; sisters, Lisa K. Aydell and husband Danny, Teri L. Ackerman and Missy A. Ackerman; mother, Evelyn G. Ackerman; maternal grandmother, Gladys K. Albin; grandchildren, Tristan, Madison and Paityn Ackerman; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Ackerman. Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Monday, Aug. 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m. in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. T.W. Terral. Burial at Killian Chapel Cemetery, Montpelier. Pallbearers will be Buddy Guidry, Kevin Guitreau, Randy Albin, Brad Albin, Jeremy Aydell and Jacob Aydell. Honorary pallbearers are Darren "B-Bat" Bourque and Will "Chunky" Miller.
