The graveside service for Norman Achen, 73 of Yankton, formerly of Hecla is Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Hecla Cemetery, Hecla, SD with Pastor Sheila Apland-Ottenbacher officiating.

Norman died Tuesday, April 24 at Yankton State Hospital.

Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Norman Achen was born on January 17, 1934 at Hecla, SD to Alwin & Elna (Lindi) Achen. This is the area where he grew up and attended school. After school he worked on the family farm. He has made his home in Yankton since the 1950's.

He was confirmed at Liberty Lutheran Church.

Norman will be remembered for always having a smile on his face and a life full of laughter.

Grateful for having shared his life are his brother-in-law, Marvin Schmidt, Bismarck, ND; sister-in-law, Sylvia Achen, Sidney, NE; nine nieces & nephews; and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Eugene & Robert, and sister Linda Schmidt.
