Barry Olin Abee, 52, of Morganton, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at CHS-BRHC Morganton, following a period of declining health.

Barry was born on March 9, 1966 in Burke County to Gladys Lail Abee and the late David Delain Abee.

He was a longtime member of Abee's Grove Baptist Church and was previously employed as a long distance truck driver.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Alan Abee and both sets of grandparents.

Survivors include his mother, Gladys Abee of Morganton, two daughters, Megan and husband Stephan Sharar of Charlotte and Kellie Abee of Valdese and one brother, Michael Barnette of Morganton. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Carrie Woodard, Alexis Woodard, Makayla Abee and Jeffery Ryffel, nieces, Jaime McLean and a nephew, Jeremy Abee, and a number of extended adopted family, including Amber and Tyler Cook and their children, Aleigha, Alona and Triston.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 5:00 P.M. at Abee's Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Rudy Hayes officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 until 5:00 P.M. at Abee's Grove Baptist Church.

Heritage Funeral Service & Crematory of Valdese is serving the Abee family.
