Ex-City Man Dies At Tracy
Lauritz Aarthun, 76, former Redwood Falls businessman, died this morning at Tracy manor. Last rites, to be held at Kelly-Almlie funeral home in Tracy, have tentatively been set for Wednesday. Rev. Charles Berg of the Methodist church will officiate, and interment will be in the Walnut Grove cemetery.
Mr. Aarthun was born December 6, 1894 in Bergen, Norway, a son of Jergen and Britha Jgerde Aarthun. He came to America when he was 16. His marriage to Sarah Ann Cantine took place on the Cantine farm near Walnut Grove March 11, 1915. They lived in the Tracy area most of their married life but in 1938-39 he operated a garage in Redwood Falls. He retired from the Cadillac-Pontiac business in Tracy in 1958.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Jergen of Toledo, Ohio, Donald of Oceanside, Calif., and L.L. "Brow" of St. Paul; daughters, Mrs. Virginia Kiiskila of Cambridge and Mrs. Ed (Bernice) Reetz of Tracy; 28 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Ludwig Aarthun of St. Paul; a sister, Mrs. Richard York of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a brother and sister in Norway.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death, including Mrs. Ole J. Stangeland of Starbuck, who died two years ago.
