San Juan Prospector dated Oct. 20, 1900
May Berdina Schuch, age 25, wife of Philip Schuch, Jr., died at Cripple Creek, Colorado, Saturday, Oct. 13, 1900. The body of Mrs. Schuch was returned to Del Norte accompanied by Mr. Schuck and son and Mrs. Akin, Mrs. Schuch’s mother. Mrs. Schuch was the daughter of Mr.& Mrs. Eugene Akin of Del Norte and grew to womanhood here. She was born in Jamestown, New York May 22, 1876. From there the family moved to Tennessee and about in 17 years later moved to Colorado where she was married to Philip Schuch, Jr. in Feb. 1893 at Del Norte, Colorado. Mrs. Schuch was about 25 years of age and leaves a husband and son 6 ½ years of age.
Burial was in the Del Norte cemetery following funeral services at the M.E. Church Tuesday.

=============================
We know that J. Philiip Schuch, May's husband, was still alive in 1900, but I could find nothing more on him after that date. May's mother, Dora Eugene Akin, is listed with Eugene in Lone Pine, Inyo County, California (where she is listed as Cara), but he is listed as a widower in 1930, so she had obviously passed away by 1930. I found no grave record for her, however. May is the granddaughter of Elizabeth Hubbard pwc
