Amanda Turner "Mandy" (Abernathy) Cartwright was born on September 23, 1883 in Cheatham County, Tennessee, the daughter of Henry Howard Abernathy (1860–1920) and Betty Elizabeth (Morgan) Abernathy (1859–1950). {Her Death Certificate has her born in Cheatham County, while her obituary has her born in Nashville.}

She was married 1st on December 25, 1901 in Davidson County, Tennessee to Andrew Jackson "Andy" Winters (1880–1968), and she was married 2nd on June 14, 1930 in Davidson County to Bishop Cartwright (1875–1949), a Nashville coal dealer.

Living at 1537 Arthur Avenue in Nashville, Mandy was 62 years old and married when she died at home on May 23, 1946 of bronchopneumonia and flu. {It is noted that her Death Certificate DOES have her born in 1873, died in 1946 AND her age as 62. However, it would appear that the year of birth is incorrect.}

Survivors included her husband Bishop Cartwright, daughters Mrs Sadie Long at Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Mrs Daisy Thomas in Nashville, Tennessee, sons Horace Winters, Hilary Winters and Howard Winters all of Nashville, her mother Mrs Betty Abernathy, aunts Mrs Freddie Nipper and Mrs Ella Lane at Nashville and twelve grandchildren.

Burial was on May 25th in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.

Much of the above is from her Death Certificate, with Bishop Cartwright of 1537 Arthur Avenue as the informant. Additional information is from her published obituary in THE TENNESSEAN on May 24, 1946.
