APRIL 17, 1916 ~ DECEMBER 4, 2018 (AGE 102)

Lena Acres Reed, of the Burrville Community, passed away Tuesday morning December 4th, 2018 at Life Care Center of Morgan County.

She was born in Beechfork, Campbell County , TN on April 17, 1916.

Ms. Lena Reed was first and foremost a devoted wife and mother. Proverbs 1:10-12 “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.”

She was the true picture of a biblical wife and loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally always wanting the best for them.

Lena had a heart of a servant and served her community in many capacities alongside her beloved husband. She served in an unselfish, loving, genuine and honest manor. Lena was strong and always willing to stand up for her beliefs and defend those who were in need.

She lived a life free from prejudice, choosing to see the good in people. She was wise beyond her years with the gift of discernment.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Sarah Ellen (Nellie) Wilhite Acres; loving husband of 76 years, Hollis W. Reed “Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the Church” in which Hollis certainly did; precious daughter, Peggy R. Reed; brothers: Cleo, Arzo, Audie, Paul, and James Acres; sisters: Ophia Reed and Dereda Daugherty; along with many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her children: Robbie (Phillip) Levi, Joe C. (Joanna) Reed, and Pamela (Roger) Lyons; grandchildren: Mary Levi Mehl, Matthew Levi, Holly Levi Howe, Heidi Reed Kaiser, Heather Reed Patitucci, Anthony Reed, Mark Lyons, Ginger Lyons Pettitt; along with 19 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Thank you to all who loved and cared for her until the sweet end. A special thank you to the Life Care Center of Morgan County for the excellent care they provided.

The family will receive friends Friday December 7, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg.

The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Sam Woods and Bro. Tom Robbins officiating. Interment will follow immediately at the Hazel Valley Cemetery in Oneida, TN.
