Charles J. Ash, 65, of Fayette died Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein, after a courageous three year battle with cancer.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church in Fayette with Rev. Mike Jager officiating. Inurnment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at Gods Acres Cemetery in Clermont. Visitation will precede the memorial service at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.

Charles Jon, son of Ronnie and Ruth (Wickham) Ash was born August 15, 1953, in West Union. He graduated from Fayette High School in 1972. Chuck along with his father, Ronnie and brother, Gary, owned and operated Ash Painting in the Fayette area for many years, prior to Ash Painting becoming Chuck Ash Painting. He was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Fayette. Chuck enjoyed cars, motorcycles, family Thanksgivings, animals, listening to music, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He also had a special interest and talent in Shirley Temple memorabilia and collectible dolls.

Chuck is survived by his two nieces, Melisa (Gary) Lehmann of Elgin and Shelly (Ken) Frank of Ottawa, Kansas; two nephews, Carey (Jean) Ash of Cedar Rapids and Brent (Kelley) Wright of Overland Park, Kansas; eleven great-nieces and great-nephews; and friend, Alice Boyer of Oelwein.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Ash; mother, Ruth Aanes; two sisters, Carol Ash and Karen Wright Jeter; brother, Gary Ash; nephew, Jamey Ash; and step-father, Earl Aanes.
