A handyman and carpenter who enjoyed carp fishing and hunting.
Also survived by his daughter, Megan Nicole Abernathy; son, Bobby Dale Abernathy; sister, Connie Hoyle (Stumpy); and brother, John David Abernathy (Roxanne).
Also preceded in death by a brother, Gary Dewayne Abernathy (29 Nov 1961 – 28 Jun 2008).
Funeral services were held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at North Brook Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Wise and Rev. Travis Elmore officiating; burial in Hull's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Sunday, January 6, 2019, at the home.
