Barbara J. Johnson, 79, of Rochester, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, after two months at Cottagewood Senior living Center. She donated her body to Mayo Clinic for the purpose of education and research. Barbara was born in Rochester on Jan. 24, 1936, to Bessie (Birch) and Helmer Aaby. She was born with her twin sister, Beverly (Gleason), and grew up in the Salem Corners area on a small farm. After graduating from Byron High School, she married Robert L Smith and had seven children. They divorced in 1975. She married Bruce V. Johnson in 1978. She worked as a tax-preparer for most of her career, having her own business called The Tax Place. She will be remembered for her tasty home cooking, collections and love of animals.

She is survived by her husband; her children, Cynthia (Dave Rettler), Bernard, Benjamin, Maureen (Kevin Asprey), Theodore (Kim); step-children, Craig (Michelle) and Daniel; her sister, Beverly Gleason; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters at or near birth; two daughters-in-law, Bonnie (Bernard's wife) and Kimberly (Benjamin's wife); numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
