Charles Walter (C.W.) Adams, age 92 journeyed to his eternal home Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the James H. Quillen VAMC (CLC Bldg), Johnson City, TN after a brief illness.

He was a devoted Christian and a lifetime member of the Dryden United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Waller Adams; Mother, Sallie Zack Adams; wife, Helen Davis Adams; sisters, Iris Adams Burchette; Christine Adams Bowman; Charlotte Adams Milhorn; Mary Adams Tueting, and Lucy Adams Hobbs.

Survivors include daughters Darlene Adams Light (Jerry), Charle Helen (Sissy) Adams, both of johnson City, TN; Grandsons, Todd Light, Matthew Light (Amanda), Adam Ely, and granddaughter Meredith Copeland (Adam); Great grandchildren:  Brooke, Olivia, Addison Light, Paxton Stewart, and Carter Copeland.  Other survivors include sisters Lena Rue Adams Pellman, Cleveland, OH, Sallie Ann Adams Johnson, Bristow, VA, brother John Javan Adams, Gloucester, VA; one sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Davis of Albany, GA.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Devoted niece Elaine Day and her husband Jeff and family held a special place in their Uncle C.W.'s heart.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Community Living Center Hospice Unit.  Your loving care and concern will remain in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at the Dryden United Methodist Church, Dryden, VA. with the funeral service immediately following.  The Rev. Barry Sarver will be officiating.

Interment will be Sunday, March 10 at the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA.  Pallbearers will be Todd Light, Matthew Light, Adam Ely, Jeff Day, Dennis Bowman and Gary Perdue.

Flowers will be accepted but memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Dryden United Methodist Church.  Condolences may be sent on line to Sturgillfuneralhome.com
