SSGT (Ret) Thomas Ollie Young, 76, of Columbus, GA, died Friday, December 23, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital. Cryptside funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. The family will receive friends this evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. SSGT Young was born in Dallas, TX, on February 14, 1930, son of the late A. P. Young and Ola Young. He has lived in Columbus since 1961 and was Catholic by faith. He retired from the U.S. Army with 27 years of service, having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. After his military career he worked for CB&T. Survivors include his wife, Andrea F. Young of Columbus; his son, James Ollie Young of Lafayette, LA; his daughter and son-in-law, Dolores L. Bean and her husband Gregory of Montgomery, AL; and his grandson, Thomas J. Bean of Oklahoma City, OK.
