She was born Oct. 25, 1923 in Fauquier County a daughter of the late Elmo Peyton Wheatley and Jane Marshall White Wheatley. She was preceded in death by her husband- Aubrey Richard Abel and a brother- Walter Milford Wheatley.
She was retired from the United States Postal Service where she worked as a postal clerk at the Remington Post Office. She was a member of Mt. Holly Baptist Church, near Remington.
She is survived by her daughter- Sandra H. Abel, Remington and a son- Aubrey Warren Abel of Bealeton; one sister- Elmer Mae "Punkin" Wheatley Thorn of Remington; two grandchildren- Jason Patrick and Lara Elizabeth Abel.
