David Roberts, age 83 of Jefferson, Iowa and formerly of Rippey, Iowa passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the The Gardens Assisted Living in Jefferson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry, Iowa. Burial will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Adel, Iowa on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
David Edward Roberts was born on October 15, 1935 at Cabool, Missouri to Willard Allen and Grace Mae (Browne) Roberts. He attended the Elk Creek School in Elk Creek, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Joan Gliem at Perry on June 17, 1956. He served in the United States Army for 21 years. During his time in service he was part of the Big Red One, he received 2 Bronze Stars and various other medals. After retiring from the Army, he worked for the United States Post Office for 18 years in Perry and Rippey.
He enjoyed coin collecting, putting puzzles together, learning history, watching the Packers and the St. Louis Cardinals. His grandkids were his favorite people.
In death he rejoins his parents, Willard and Grace and his siblings, Alma Thede, Beatrice Boyd and Fereleen Acton.
