Violet Carol Sichmeller was born July 16, 1944 to Lawrence and Christine (Stave) Aadland in New Effington, SD, one of six living children. She attended public school at Sisseton, SD. She was united in marriage to John Sichmeller on January 19, 1959 in Webster, SD.

Violet was a lifelong caregiver to her family and to others. In the early years she worked at Tekawitha Nursing Home in Sisseton, later at Marshall Manor in Britton and after they moved to Murdo she worked at the Super 8 as well as the Jones County Clinic and home health care. She was blessed with the birth of her seventh child, Bethany, around this time and enjoyed taking care of her husband, kids and grandkids. Violet had a passion for reading, writing poems and stories, quilting and sewing, and was a faithful member of the Catholic Church.

Violet passed away on May 4th at her home, exactly one year to the day after John.

Violet is survived by six children; Deb (Mark) Hagen of Langford, SD, Jayme (Flor) Sichmeller of Valley Center, CA, Dawn (Gregg) Cramer of Aberdeen, SD, Jackie Davenport of Aberdeen, Jill Bury of Webster, and Beth (Jennings) Newbold of Murdo; sisters Ardys Devine of Rapid City, SD, Jean Dwenhoegger of Hill City, SD, Mary Lou Aadland of San Antonio, TX, sister-in-law Maggie Aadland, 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, son Timothy, one sister Shirley Skjonsberg, one brother Dennis Aadland and 3 siblings in infancy.
