Mr. Freddie Burton Ackerman, Jr., 69, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born April 8, 1947 in Lancaster, a son of the late Freddie Burton Ackerman, Sr. and Christine Baker Ackerman. Mr. Ackerman was a devoted member of Springdell Baptist Church. He was a member of the Gospel Seekers Sunday School Class and he also sang in the choir.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ackerman will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 2 pm at Springdell Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald W. Tillman officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mr. Ackerman is survived by his wife Janice C. Ackerman of Lancaster; two daughters, Tammy Deese of Lancaster and Cindy Ackerman of Charlotte; a brother, Roger Ackerman and his wife Thelma of Lancaster; six sisters, Judy Knight, Brenda James, Hazel Roberts and Debbie Helms and her husband Charles, Mary Hough and her husband Bruce and Martha Ackerman all of Lancaster; and four grandchildren, Megan Sawyer and her husband Matt, Travis Griffin, Justin Griffin and Chase Deese. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ricky Ackerman and Charles Ackerman.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of Fred and Janice.
