Margaret (Nannie) Franks Abels Thompson was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on August 13, 1937, the daughter of the late Don Edward and Annie Lee Reynolds Franks. Margaret departed this life on June 1, 2019, at the age of 81 years, 9 months, and 19 days.

Margaret was a member of White's F.C.E. and Turkey Creek Baptist Church. In her lifetime, she worked at the Magic Mart Pharmacy, IGA Deli, Angelica, and for the Hardin County Board of Education as a cafeteria worker. Margaret enjoyed Bingo and working with her hands, especially in her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Kay Abels Smith of Savannah, Tennessee; sons, Terry Abels and wife Melissa and Donald Abels and wife Tammy, both of Savannah, Tennessee; sister, Donna Young of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Stacey Aday and husband William, Tracey Williams and husband Matt, Kelly Woods and husband Cass, Levi Abels, Hannah Abels, Donald Steele Abels, Jonathan Smith and wife Beth, and Stephanie Smith Phillips; great grandchildren, Dolyn Williams, Owen Williams, Will Aday, Madison Aday, Jaden Smith, Jackson Smith, Ryland Luker, and Bella Phillips; step-great-grandchild, Joseph Mitchell; one niece; and one nephew.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by the father of her children, Walter Abels and her second husband, James Thompson.
