James M. E. Abbotts, 73, of Beaverton, died Nov. 9, 2002 at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids. Mr. Abbotts was born January 16, 1929 to Albert and Lucille (Ashley) Abbotts in Detroit. He had resided in Gladwin since 1973 and lived previously in Milford. He married Sarah Stewart in Covington, Kentucky Aug. 4, 1951. He was a machinist and retired in 1991 after 15 years from Brown Machine in Beaverton. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beaverton.
He is survived by his wife, who lives in Beaverton; three sons, David (Tammy) Abbotts of Hartland, Richard (Mary Ellen) Abbotts of Beaverton, Scott (Linda) Abbotts of Florida; his grandchildren, Megan Abbotts of Hartland, Lance Abbotts of Hartland, Christopher Abbotts of Beaverton, Matthew Abbotts of Beaverton and Brady Abbotts of Colo.; a sister, Alberta DuPree of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Beaverton with the Rev. Karen Blatt officiating. The family will be accepting visitors at the church that day from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Beaverton.
