Elsie Jean Stone
November 26, 1945 - June 10, 2019
OBITUARY
Elsie Jean Stone of Aurora, CO passed away after 3 months of complications after a heart valve replacement surgery June 10, 2019 with her family surrounding her at her home.

She was born November 26, 1945 in Elpaso TX to W. Kemp and Mildred Absher.

She married William D. Stone (Bill) May 2, 1970. She graduated from Arizona State University, Tempe, 1968 with a degree in business administration. She worked for Petro Lewis as a land secretary and it was here she met her future husband. She and Bill owned the Sunnywood Exploration Corp. and then a mineral business called The Sunnywood Collection for over 30 years.

Elsie grew up in Pueblo, CO and had a love for horses, especially Amigo, her palomino. She spent summers with her brother and parents at a family cabin just west of Westcliffe in the mountains of the Sangre De Cristo range. She was an avid swimmer, especially in backstroke, and almost qualified for the Junior Olympic Team! She and Bill spent summers in ‘Sunnywood’ in upstate NY with extended family. She would often be seen sitting on the porch overlooking the lake with a class of chardonnay in hand. She was a seamstress early on in life and became a talented quilter. She belonged to many quilting groups in CO and NY. She was a member of P.E.O. a philanthropic educational organization for women after her mother and along side her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Brauer. She was a beautiful skier and enjoyed hiking in the mountains with her family. She and Bill had a love of Siamese cats. She had a playful nature and everyone that ever met her always mentioned how thoughtful and kind she was.

She is survived by her husband William D. Stone (Bill), daughter Pamela (Grady) Turner, son W.
