Born August 12, 1918, in Corbin, KY, she was the daughter of the late Chester Abner and Susie (Cox) Abner Pennington Hoskins and the wife of the late Connie Mack Mabry.
Reetired from Butte Knit and Powell Knitting Mill, she was a member of Powell Presbyterian Church where she was the Ladies Sunday School teacher and Church Historian for many years.
Survivors include a son, Ronald C. Mabry and his wife Marty of Spartanburg; two daughters-in-law, Martha Freeman and her husband Grover of Spartanburg, and Susan Mabry of Hurst, TX; a granddaughter,Tonya M. Woody and her husband Mark, and a grandson, Ken Mabry of Rockville, MD, who were raised as a daughter and son in her home; a niece, Dana Owens of Spartanburg who was raised in the home; a granddaughter, Michelle Mabry of Spartanburg; two grandsons, Mike Mabry and his wife Kim of Houston, TX, and Darryl Mabry of Pauline; a step-granddaughter, Terri Reeves; two step-grandsons, Danny Wright and Kevin Mabry; a sister, Geraldine Pennington of the home; eleven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one great-niece; one great-nephew; a great-great-niece; and two great-great-nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, Donald Mabry and LeRoy Mabry; a step-son, Mack Mabry; a step-daughter, Nancy M. Cook; a step-grandson, Mike Wright; a sister, Laura Tamme; two brothers, Gerald Hoskins and J. B. Abner; and a step-great-grandchild.
Visitation was 6:30-8:30 PM, Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Powell Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Fred Thompson, the Rev. Jack Giddings, and Mr. Bobby Scruggs. Burial was in Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery in Jonesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the Lula Mabry Memorial Fund, 9 Forest Mill Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
