Mr. J.K. Absher, age 75, of 2274 Grandview Drive, Sparta, died Tuesday morning, April 22, 2008, at the Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Murray Absher. He is survived by a daughter, Sandy Taylor of Sparta; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Bobby Absher of the home, Billy Absher of Elkin, Randy Absher of Jonesville and Bryce and Jean Absher of Sparta; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, his mother, Grace Wyatt Absher of Sparta; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Homer Crouse of Sparta, Ruth and Raymond Crouse of Glade Valley; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24th at the Grandview Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
