Ernest Erwin George, age 71, resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, October 5 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A celebration of Mr. George’s life will be held at later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born April 10, 1948 in Centerville, he was the son of the late Ernest A. and Catherine McCaleb George and husband of Lynn Sanderson George. Ernest worked for the state of Tennessee in several capacities, his last was an Emergency Service Coordinator for TDOT. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his sons: Tony George of Fairview and Brian George of Lyles; brother: Jimmy (Dannie May) George of Lyles; sisters: Linda Faye Craig of Lawrenceburg, Margaret (Donald) Durham of Bethpage and Karen (Jim) Holloway of Hohenwald.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Johnny George and a sister: Deborah George.
