Arnold S. Abalos passed away at the age of 90. He would have been 91 in a few weeks. He was born to Jose M. and Josefina Pimentel Abalos in Los Guayes, Mexico. Arnold immigrated to Montello, NV with his parents in 1924 and lived there until being drafted in November of 1941. After the war, Arnold settled in Elko, Nev. He married Jo Ellen Hammond Sweetwood in 1966 and they lived in Elko until 1996 when they moved to Boise, Idaho, and then to Carson City to be near family. Arnold was employed by the State of Nevada and retired from his job at the Nevada Youth Training Center in Elko in the early 1980s. He is survived by his wife Jo Ellen and his seven children Bill (Marie) Sweetwood, Bonnie (Bruce) Andersen, Connie (Jim) Meeks, Kriss (Jim) Stillman, Laurie (Marty) Coblentz, David (Brenda) Sweetwood and Laura (Chris) Priaulx. He is also lovingly survived by his many grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by his cherished sisters Josephine, Virginia and Mary and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Christina and brother Raymond. Arnold loved Northeastern Nevada and spent many happy hours and days hunting and fishing there.
