Ed was a building operator for the Salina School District for 34 years, before retiring for USD 305. He also was a teachers' aide with computers for the school district and a counselor for drug and alcohol classes
Ed is survived by his wife, grandson, Tyler Short, brother, Bob Abernathy and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Eric, sister Evelyn Damker, and brother, Bill Abernathy.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, with family receiving friends 6-7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 9, at Ryan Mortuary, with burial to follow in Bennington Cemetery, Bennington.
Memorials maybe made to the family and sent in care of Ryan Mortuary.
