Daniel Henry Ackermann, 92, of Cheyenne, died on March 23, 2020 in Denver, Colorado. He was born March 15, 1928 to William F.D. Ackermann and Bertha Marie (Ludwigs) Ackermann in Kaylor, South Dakota.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946 and served in the occupation of Japan. In 1950, he was called back to active duty and was sent to Germany as a stenographer. He then married Dolores Jean Gunderson on July 6, 1951 in Yankton, South Dakota.

Dan and Jean moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1956, where he taught and was principal at several elementary schools before he became principle of Johnson Junior High in 1968. He then retired in 1983 from Laramie County Community College as the Associate Dean of Continuing Education.

Dan served 33 years in the Wyoming Air National Guard and was discharged as Lt. Colonel in 1980. He was involved in many local organizations that included; Parent-Teacher Organization, past President of the Civitan Club, and was also a member of the Heels Club of Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Dan was the youngest of 7 Children. This included three brothers; Wilbur, Cyril or (Cy), and William Ackermann, as well as three sisters; Charlotte Conkling, Mildred Haley from Boise, ID, and Gertrude Block Ray. He is survived by his loving wife Dolores Jean Ackermann of Cheyenne and his two daughters; Cheryl D. Jones, husband Jack of Mondamin, IA and Suzanne Jane Pacheco (Deceased). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; Jessica Vinal, husband Mike of Laramie, Wy, Jonathan Juarez, wife Gena of Wellington, CO, Melissa Jones of Mondamin, IA, Kayla Juarez of Greeley, CO, Clinton Jones, wife Abigail of Rexburg, ID, and Alex Rogers, wife Mae, of Cheyenne, WY, as well as 6 great-grandchildren. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandfather that loved hunting and fishing. He was also a great handy-man that could fix almost anything.
