Mary Fannie Alford Ormsby Ackerman, age 80 of Laurinburg died on Sunday, February 05, 2006 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel…. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ackerman was born Apri1 24, 1925 daughter of the late Noah Frank and Ida Gaddy Alford, Sr. She graduated from Laurinburg High School in 1943. Mary was a loving and devoted homemaker and retired from J.P. Stevens, Inc. on May 1, 1985. After retiring, she worked part time for the Scotland County Literacy Council and worked as a volunteer for Hospice of Scotland County. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Leon Ormsby, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Keith B. Ackerman of the home; her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Kee of Athens, Georgia; her son, Robert “Bob” Leon Ormsby III of Laurinburg and five grandchildren….
