Mary Emma Rainey Acre was the daughter of Reuben Morgan Rainey and his wife Catherine Thomas Cleaton Rainey. She was married to James W. Acre (b. Aug 1823 and died after 1900 but before 1910 in Ellaville, Schley County.)in 1847 in either Marion or Randolph County Georgia. It is believed that James Acre is buried in Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetery in an unmarked grave. Mary and James appear in the 1850 Census with a child- Mary Ann Watson age 5. This child is Mary's niece (child of James O. Watson and Permelia C. Rainey Watson). Mary and James Acre had no children who survive long enough to appear in a census. However Mary Ann Watson appears to remain in the Acre household up until the 1910 Census. Mary Ann Watson never marries. It appears from the Census that Mary and James Acre live in the Hopewell Community until about 1880 when they move to Ellaville. After the death of James,
Mary Acre and her niece move to Macon County. The date of death for Mary Acre is not known but she appears in the 1900 and the 1910 Census (age 88 in 1910). So she proabobly died shortly after that Census.

Mary's siblings were: Ann Parrisade Rainey Allison (m. Henry Leonidas Allison), Carolyn Francis Rainey Owens (m. John Daniel Owens), Mariah Louisa Rainey Daniel (m. Henry Garland Daniel), Thomas Frederick Rainey (m. Mary Dwight Collins Rainey), Permelia C. Rainey Watson (m. James O. Watson), Elizabeth D. Rainey, and Rebecca S. Rainey.

Mary E. Acre is buried in the plot of Zacharias Taylor Snipes and his wife (Mary's niece) Catherine Elizabeth (Katie) Rainey Snipes at Hopewell United Methodist Cemetery in Schley County, GA
