Earl spent his early years on the farm and then in 1953 went into the Army to serve in the Korean War. After serving our country he returned to his home in Buckingham County and married the love of his life in December 1955 and they had their son a year later. He returned to his previous job, working in the oil distribution business hauling fuel for Adams Oil Company, which later became Saxon Oil Company. He dedicated most of his life serving his customers, and enjoyed his rounds where he could swap stories and happenings with them. He would often share fond memories of those times long after he retired. He also worked alongside his son, Gene, on the farm where they raised many varieties of livestock and grains. In more recent years the farm became a grass and beef cattle operation.
Earl passed on his love of gardening to his son. He took great delight in watching the vegetables grow. He also enjoyed using the cooking skills he had learned in the service, working as a Mess Hall cook. He and Gladys would enjoy making soup or spaghetti together during the winter months and barbequing chicken in the summer.
Many memories will remain with the friends and family who knew him, as he will be greatly missed.
