Ruth E. Jukuri, 66, a resident of Calumet went home to be with her heavenly father whom she loved so much Tuesday morning April 13, 2004 at her home surrounded by her family. She had a successful lung transplant 2 2 years ago, followed by a courageous battle with cancer this past year.

She was born on May 30, 1937 in Bootjack, the daughter of the late John & Anna (Wepsa) Aalto and later moved with her parents to Laurium.

Ruth attended the Calumet High School and graduated with the class of 1955.

On June 30, 1956 she was married to John I. Jukuri in Calumet.

They lived in Laurium until 1974 when they moved to Calumet on M-26.

She worked as a secretary for the Finnish Mutual Insurance Company and also with her husband in his CPA practice.

Ruth was a dear wife, mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family and also enjoyed her summers at their camp in Bootjack.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Hancock, the women's serving circle and was a former Sunday School teacher.

Preceded her in death were her parents, 1 sister: Melba Tuovila,
2 brothers: Reino Aalto & John Aalto.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 17, 2004 at 11:00 AM in the Zion Lutheran Church in Hancock with the Rev. Gerry Southerton and Rev. Rodney Johnson to officiate.

Friends may call on Friday April 16, 2004 at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet from 3-9 PM and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday or online at www.ericksoncrowley.com.

Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Inter-Lutheran Theological Seminary in Hancock.
