Lorraine Patteson “Pat” Montgomery, 91, died on Friday, July 31, 2020, following a long illness.

Pat was born on November 10, 1928, in Bath County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Hubert and Clara Patteson. She was an L.P.N. and worked for a number of years at Kings Daughter Hospital, in Staunton, Virginia. She then began a career selling newspaper advertising for The Staunton Leader, in Staunton, Virginia, and The Daily Progress, in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was advertising director for The News Virginian, in Waynesboro, Virginia. She ended her career traveling to five states selling advertising for Keister-Williams based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her three children as a single parent. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and visiting family. At one time she was an avid golfer having learned the game, as a youngster, from Sam Snead. She was a member of First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Burlington, NC.

Survivors include a daughter, Kim Proctor and her husband William of Olanta, South Carolina; a son Scott Montgomery and his wife Frances of Elon, NC; seven grandchildren, Ashley Harvey, Amy (Ben) Edwards, Wade Montgomery, Craig (Erica) Montgomery, Meghan Proctor, Ryan (Jordan) Montgomery, and Mason Montgomery; six great-grandchildren, Will Harvey, Laney Harvey, Asa Edwards, Parker Montgomery, Naomi Edwards, and Hazel Edwards, along with a number of nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by a son Lee Montgomery, and siblings Billy Patteson, Joyce Abe, and Charlotte Harris.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in Virginia at a later date due to Covid restrictions.
