Phillip Vaughn Abell, 82, of Catoosa, OK, passed away, Thursday, July 25, 2013. He was born January 22, 1931, in Tescott, Kansas, the son of Ramon and Beurnice (Van Doren) Abell.
Phil was a truck driver for over 60 years and an avid sports fan- especially football and dirt track racing.

Phil was preceded in death by his wife Arlene, son, Phillip Abell Jr., daughter, Darlene Anderson, and grandson, Jason Anderson. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Howard, Garry, Larry, Sonny, and sisters Margaret and Helen.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Abell and wife Angela, of Salina; daughter, Annissa DeJarnett of Catoosa, OK; daughter Carrie Meili and husband Gary, of Lincoln, KS; Daryl Kriegh, of Lincoln, KS; son, Bruce Kriegh of Salina; daughter Jacki Person, and husband Dennis, of Minneapolis, KS; and son-in-law, Steven Anderson of Westfall, KS; as well as one brother, Bob Abell of Barnard, KS and wife, Mary Jo; sister-in-law Peggy Thomason and husband Jay of Dickson, TN and brother-in-law, Vincent Pistora of Salina, KS, along with countless nieces, nephews and cousins and "adopted" family members.

Phil was Papaw to 18 grandchildren: Billie, Travis, Matthew, Brent, Kyle, Abria, Jennifer, Joshua, Jacob, Jackson, Avery, Abigail, Scott, Seth , Maddy, Julie, Scott and Shawn; and 18 great-grandchildren: Caden, Candice, Alexis, Kyla, Isaac, Isabella, Jude, Daniel, Elijah, Bridgette, Zanissa, Andrew, Caleb, Courtney, Grace, Emma, Joseph, Anthony and a baby boy expected in November.

A memorial service will at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina. Memorial contributions may be given to Salina Central Mustang Football, and left in care of the mortuary.
