During her adolescent years, Ms. Mattie met and felled in love with the love of her life, the late Robert Lee Acres. She was a devoted wife to her husband for over 51 years, where out of their blessed union they were blessed with (11) children. Mattie was preceded in the death by her husband, Robert Lee Acres and her son, Jessie James Acres. The siblings that preceded her in death were her two brothers, Eugene James Wade and Walter Lee Thomas; one sister, Minnie Pearl Pierce.
Ms. Acres accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. She was a servant of God and faithful member of the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Leesburg, Georgia, where she served faithfully as the Secretary of the Mission Board and Sunday School.
Ms. Acres was a hard worker, for many years she worked for the “Griffin Family” which was like her own extended family. She retired in the early 90’s. Because she grew up as a small town “Country Girl”, she always had a passion and love for “Chickens”; she raised baby chicks and she was crazy about every one of them. She also had a special love for fishing, making quilts, visiting the community center with her friends to play Bridge. One of the highlights of her life is family! She was a loving devoted mother and grandmother, and she loved having her family around her; she looked forward to every family function and she loved to laugh and dance. Ms. Acres had a sweet caring spirit and she will give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed anything from her. She absolutely loved people and people loved her!
God’s master plan was fulfilled in the life of Mattie (Wade) Acres, on Friday, July 24, 2020 at home with love ones. She transitioned home to be with the Lord.
