Alma was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga, and a dedicated member of the Community Action Agency in Hancock. A deeply religious person, Alma attended a number of churches in the area and belonged to numerous catholic organizations and was an active volunteer. She faithfully recited the rosary daily as an example of her commitment to the church. In addition, Alma read the Bible on a regular basis.
She loved working in her flower garden, loved animals and the birds that frequented her yard. With her late husband, she enjoyed traveling to various states and going for local country rides. She loved sweets and considered ice cream her favorite treat. Her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her joy and found a special place in her heart.
Mrs. Lampi is survived by 2 sons, Gary (Kathy) Brogan of Sun Prairie, WI., and Mike (Josephine) Brogan of Aura, MI. and daughter Romaine Lauridsen of Gladstone, MI. numerous grand and great-grandchildren, twin sister Edna (Ralph) Hillman of Sun Prairie, WI. and sister Esther Brogan of Lapeer, MI. Several other relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Brogan [married April 27, 1940, in L’Anse, Baraga County, Michigan] and Edwin Lampi, son Ronnie, daughter Gail and brother Herb Manning.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2004 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Baraga with Father Antony, celebrant . A visitation for Mrs. Lampi was held at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse, Wednesday, September 15, 2004 from 6 until 8 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. An additional visitation hour was held at church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass. Interment took place in Evergreen Cemetery, L’Anse, MI.
