Mrs. Christina Aasen of south of Fairbury, passed away in a Lincoln, Nebr., hospital Friday, Dec. 9, 1955, at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 14 days.
Christina Francis Arner, the first of twins born to Elizabeth and Daniel Arner, was born at Johnstown, Nebr., August 25, 1889. She was one of a family of nine children. Since 1902 her home has been in the Fairbury vicinity, and the past 34 years on a farm south of Fairbury.
July 3, 1913, she was united in marriage at the Christian church in Fairbury to Thomas H. Aasen. To them were born two children, Harold, who lived with his mother, and Helen, Mrs. Robert Flower, who lives near the home.
After the death of the wife of her brother, Elmer, May 7, 1927, she took into her home their son, Clarence who was then only three weeks old. He was reared as her own child continuing to make his home with her until he entered the armed forces.
Mrs. Aasen joined the Christian church in 1908. She was a charter member of the Happy Home club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, April, 1935, her twin sister, Mrs. W. O. Nielsen, May 29, 1938, and her parents.
Surviving are her son, Harold, daughter, Mrs. Robert Flower, Clarence Arner and his two small boys; three sisters, Nona McClellan of Fairbury, Mrs. Elizabeth Jordan of Lincoln and Ruth Horner of Yakima, Wash; and four brothers, Elmer of Davenport, IA., Dan Arner of Thompson, Ralph Arner of Neola, Iowa and Harry Arner of Fairbury.
Funeral services were Monday afternoon at the Christian church with the pastor, Rev. Grover Thompson, officiating. Burial was in the Fairbury cemetery.
