Kendal I Abbott (Andrews)

Kendal Ingaborg Abbott, 84, of Canon City, passed away January 26, 2018. Kendal was born to Douglas and Helen (Velin) Andrews on September 11, 1933 in Denver, Colorado and grew up in Castle Rock. In 1953 she graduated from Colorado Women's College and later earned a degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado A&M (CSU) in 1956.

Kendal met John Abbott while attending CSU and they were married November 23, 1956. The couple moved to Pueblo in 1958 where John worked for CF&I steel mill.

Kendal taught sewing and knitting to a 4-H club, was a Girl Scout leader and worked as a homemaker being a devoted wife and mother to her family. She always had a needle in her hand showing her beautiful work through ballet costumes, vestments and altar cloths for churches, quilts and clothing. Kendal also tole painted and made many beautiful painted pieces.

Kendal was an active member of PEO Chapter FC in Canon City and a former member of CG in Pueblo. Kendal and John attended Ascension Episcopal Church in Pueblo until 2001 where she served on the Altar Guild. In 2001 Kendal and John moved to Canon City where they attend Christ Episcopal Church. She remained active in the Altar guild while also volunteering at the Episcopal Thrift Store in Colorado Springs.

Kendal was an avid walker and could be seen in the neighborhood during her daily walks. She loved gardening and the outdoors. She wanted to be productive and contributed so much to her family and friends lives. She was thankful for the life that God let her live and she will be missed by her family, friends, and everyone's lives she touched.

Kendal is survived by her husband, John Abbott; son, Todd (Linda) Abbott; daughters, Kimberly (Andrew) Bolton and Jennifer (Scott) Fawaz; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service, 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018, Christ Episcopal Church, 802 Harrison Avenue, Canon City, Colorado.
