Ira was the son of James Edwin Cross and Martha Dryer. He married Annie Leanore Treakle (nee) Abbott on January 17, 1900.

The following is from the May 31, 1907 issue of the Virginia Citizen (Irvington, VA.):

Ira Cross forman at Buck's brickyard, Weems, died Friday of last week. Mr. Cross moved there from he North several years ago and is survived by a widow and one brother, E. C. Cross, of Weems. Internment Saturday.
Ira was the son of James Edwin Cross and Martha Dryer. He married Annie Leanore Treakle (nee) Abbott on January 17, 1900.
