Otto “Frank” Bastian, 79, passed away at home on September 24, 2020.

Frank was born April 9, 1941 in Humboldt, Iowa. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1959.

Frank served in the United States Navy and was stationed in the Antarctic, Pearl Harbor and Puerto Rico. He was honorably discharged in 1966.

began working for Northwestern Bell, later AT&T, retiring after 30 years of service.

Frank married Betty Hart on March 8, 1964.

He enjoyed going on nature walks and he loved his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Frank was an avid Celtics fan.

Frank is survived by his children, Kristi, Greg (Michelle) and Michael; grandchildren, Danielle, Jason, Jessica, Julia, Jack and Beau; great-grandchildren, Eli, Sven, Leo, Otto and Paxton; siblings, Tim Bastian and Rennie Hellickson; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty and his parents, Reginald and Louise Bastian and Harold Abbas.

The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 28th at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road. Frank will be laid to rest with military honors at Avon Cemetery.
