Leonard “Bud” Engel, 88, Garrison, died on Monday, September 28, 2020 at a Bismarck hospital. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Bud was born July 30, 1932 to Albert and Emelia (Henne) Engel in Garrison, ND. He was raised and educated in Garrison. Bud married Joyce (Brolin) on June 12, 1955 in Garrison and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this summer.

Bud and Joyce had four children, Cindy (Joe) Klimek, Larry and Mark Engel, and Cathy (Brad) Wilson; grandchildren, Michelle Warren, David James, Chris and Eric Wilson, Tony Engel and Dawn Zendejas; great grandchildren, Haley and Breanna Warren, Lucas and Carter James, Paige, Aria and Tucker Wilson, RJ Engel, Daizey Inselmann, and expecting two more.

Bud was a lifelong resident of Garrison. He worked construction and retired from Coteau Mine. He loved horses, enjoyed fishing, and making jewelry/gifts with rocks, especially the agates he had collected over the years.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, son Larry, two infant brothers, sisters, Arlene, Gladys and Linda, sister-n-law, Marilyn Engel, and brother-in-law, Gene Patterson.

He is survived by his wife, three children, brother, Jim Engel, sister, Gloria Patterson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
