Evelyn Louise Adams Goins, age 85 of Whiteville, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 7, 2020 at her home.

Evelyn was born on July 28, 1935 in Whiteville, NC, to the late Charlie and Minnie Memory Adams. She was also preceded in death by a Great-granddaughter, Serenity Rose Goins

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2020 at the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery; Rev. Merle Johnson will officiate.

“Pete” was a lifelong member of Smyrna Baptist Church, where she held many positions. She chaired the fellowship committee for many years, where she enjoyed planning and cooking. She also volunteered at the Whiteville Primary School, where she enjoyed interacting with the children. Pete loved her family dearly; she was a caregiver to many people. She was employed by Blue Jeans in Whiteville (Hart Schaffner Marx Apparel) as a supervisor for 20 years, later at the Sunshine Cleaners as a seamstress, Kramer’s Ladies Shop, and Moscow’s Department Store until her retirement.

To cherish her memory, Evelyn leaves behind her husband of almost 69 years, this November, Earl Cleveland Goins of the home; children: Charles E. Goins of Little River, Calvin C. Goins (Kimberly) of Elizabethtown, Betty Elizabeth Fukishima (John) of Brevard, Susan G. Ward (Steve) of Dunn; siblings: Jerry Adams (Dora) of Whiteville, Sarah A. Ray (Phil) of Lake Waccamaw, Sylvia Reeves of Ocean Isle Beach, and Amanda Britt (Doug) of Chadbourn; grandchildren: Ryan Goins, Heather Goins, Brett Goins, Christopher Ward, Grayson Ward, Drew Lewis, Kelly Rodriguez, Parker Ward; great-grandchildren, Savannah Goins, Emma Goins, Siler Goins, Owen Goins, Jeremiah Ward, Scarlett Goins, Liam Ward, and Skye Rodriguez.

Special thanks go to each caregiver for Ms. Pete. They were such a blessing throughout her illness: Linda Mitchell, Lisa Nobles, Kim Wortham, and Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Also, a wonderful daughter-in-law, Kim Goins.
