A memorial service is planned for April 1, 2023 at First Baptist of Hornbeck, Louisiana, at 11:00am. Family members are invited to a graveside interment at Beckcom Cemetery following lunch.
Julia Frances spent many years living with her daughters and helping to care for her grandchildren, 29 in total, 16 grand and 13 great.
She was predeceased by far too many whom she loved including the love of her life Kenneth Wright, her only son Andrew Wright, her beloved siblings, Jimmy Don, Kayla Jean, Donald Richard, Miriam and her parents Cecil Al Abbott Sr., Lena Chavez and Jose Chavez.
Her life leaves a legacy of love: her siblings Cecil Al Abbott, Jr. and wife Marilyn Abbott of Spring, Texas; JoAnn Abbott of Plano, Texas; Victor and wife Maria of Houston; Richard and wife Stephanie of Deridder, and scores of nieces and nephews; her daughters Renee' Tankersley of Katy, Texas, Angela Dowden and husband Pete of Hornbeck, and Jenifer Rose Wagley and wife Carla Kinslow of Portland, Oregon.
Renee' gifted Frances the title of Grandma, first, with Joshua Alan Corley. Josh and wife Brandi and their three children Landen, Brayden and Lauryn live in Hornbeck. Renee's eldest daughter and Frances' first granddaughter, Christin Lea Huff, her husband Jason and their two daughters Jayden and Brooke live in Fulshear, Texas. Renee's other children: Whitney Nicole and husband Chris Mosely of Houston; Matthew Joseph and wife Charlotte Tankersley and their two children, Reid and Sadie Louise, of Katy; and the youngest, Sarah Ann Tankersley, currently a senior at Pace University in New York City, NY. Frances' beloved son, Andy, had three beautiful children: Rachael Deshae and Kenneth Wright of Richmond, Virginia, and Noah Wright of Deridder. Angela and husband Pete have five children together: Jessica Marie and husband Eric Lowring who have three children, Jaxton, Adalee, and Emeree, of Anacoco; Jacob Aaron Byles of Hornbeck and daughter Eleanor; Samantha and wife Lauren Dowden and their son Fletcher of Deridder; Ryan Edwards and Haley Dowden of Florien, and Nathan Patrick, partner Katie and their son Bentley of Anacoco. Jenifer and her wife, Carla, have three boys: Benjamin John of Boston, MA, Elijah Page and Shepherd Pace of Portland, Oregon.
Frances was a voracious reader from her earliest years, propping books in the windowsill as she washed dishes. She played basketball with her sister in Hornbeck, back in the days when women weren't allowed to run full court lest they faint. She married while in High School, but ever the good student, graduated on time. Later in life she would pursue her nursing degree and graduate with straight A's. She loved to garden more than most and nurtured flower beds wherever she lived. Alongside gardening she loved babies, so having lots of little ones around was a deep joy. She spent countless hours rocking, playing, and reading to her grandchildren through the years. Frances was very creative and found great joy in expressing herself in many ways, some of which included sewing, crocheting, writing and painting. She had a practice of reading the Bible daily until the last few months of her journey. She had faith in a loving God, a God of grace and a God big enough to hold all people. She always said that God judged people by their hearts not their beliefs. We know that all the grief she endured during her life, here with us, is now complete and she is now at peace, in the presence of His Love.
