Gladys V. Busey, 96, of Amarillo, formerly of Liberal, Kan., died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Central Christian Church in Liberal with Spencer Powers, minister of Central Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Liberal Municipal Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Mrs. Busey was born Gladys Velma Adee Dec. 5, 1910, in El Reno, Okla., to Alva and Grace Adee. She later moved with her family to Boise City, Okla. She received her education in Oklahoma and also attended beauty school in Oklahoma City.

She married Cecil Pardee Busey on July 7, 1938, in Meade, Kan. They moved to Liberal in 1945, and she lived there until 2004, when she moved to Amarillo to be near her grandson. She was also a bookkeeper for Sinclair Bulk Agency, which she and her husband owned and operated for 13 years. Gladys was a talented seamstress and worked at Woods Department Store in Liberal until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil on Sept. 2, 1974; her parents in 1965; a daughter, Rosalie A. Johnson in 1999; three sisters, Juanita Rosalie Sink and Thelma Dean and Frances Miller; and three brothers, James Adee, Harold Adee and Forest Adee.

Survivors include a grandson, Gregg Johnson and wife Christine of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Jeanne Moore of Liberal; a great-grandson, Jeffrey Moore of Chandler, Ariz.; a great-granddaughter, Courtney Johnson of Amarillo; a son-in-law, John Wendell Johnson of Liberal; a nephew; and several nieces.
