Kenneth L. Aamodt was born September 13, 1926, in Pekin, ND, to Anreas and Gina (Hensrude) Aamodt. He attended school in Hamar, North Dakota. In 1950, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War until 1956. He returned to North Dakota and began working for the Great Northern Railroad which later became Burlington Northern. He was united in marriage with Vivian Korstad on August 22, 1959, in Lakota, ND. The family lived in Devils Lake, ND before moving to Sioux Falls, SD in 1965. Ken continued his employment with Burlington Northern and worked in railroad communications as a District Lineman. He retired in 1987, after 33 years with the company. Kenneth liked fishing in area lakes, and took many fishing trips to Minnesota and North Dakota. In his free time, he enjoyed reading westerns, and particularly liked reading Louis Lamour books. He thoroughly cherished spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Eagle’s Club in Devils Lake, ND; the American Legion in Sioux Falls, SD Post #15. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Vivian Aamodt, Sioux Falls, SD; daughters, Sandra (Albert) VanDam, Slayton, MN, Diane (Morris) Anderson, Princeton, MN, Peggy (John) Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD, Kay (Larry) Lonning, Springfield, MO; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mable Rabudeaux of Devils Lake, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Shirley Manus; eight brothers, Alfred, Burton, Melvin, Telmer, Edwin, Norman, Sidney, and an infant brother; five sisters, Hazel, Gertie, Myrtle, Geneivia, and Norma. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday at Miller Funeral Home, 13th and Main Avenue. Visitation begins at 10:00 Sunday morning with the family present to greet friends from 2:00 to 3:00 Sunday afternoon.
