Bub was born June 4, 1942 in Lukin Township, Lawrence County, Illinois to William Gerald Abell and his wife Floye June (Marx) Abell. They preceded him in death.
He graduated from Bridgeport Township High School in 1961. The oldest of seven children, Bub never married. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth Matilda Mardis and Candi Sue VonBehren, and his brothers, William Chester “Billy” Abell and Randall David Abell.
Surviving family include his brother, Glen (Carolyn) Abell, of Sumner and his sister, Annette (Troy) Riegel of Dwight. Several nieces and nephews and their children also survive.
He was a member of Hopewell Methodist Church.
G.P. Abell will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Harrison Cemetery in Lancaster.
