Jimmie F. Adams, 92, died Friday, April 2, 2021 at Kiowa County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, Kansas.
He was born March 18, 1929, in Goodland, Kansas the son of Charles William Adams and Anna Jewell (Allen) Adams. He grew up in the Goodland area until 1949 when he enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. Jim took basic training at Fort Ord, California before being stationed at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington. He was then stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
On June 9, 1951 he married Lois Darlene Ahrens in Goodland, Kansas, she proceeded him in death on August 9, 2012 in Pueblo, Colorado.
Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greensburg, member of the order of the Masons Star of Hope Chapter #193 for 59 years where he participated in the Grand Commandary for many years. Jim was inducted into the Kansas Heritage Hall of Fame, Kansas Pointing Dog Association, August 2009 for the number of years he ran dogs and judged the trials. Along with enjoying his family he enjoyed hunting, fishing, training dogs, camping, travel, woodworking and wood carving.
After Jim learned the sheet metal trade in Goodland on local homes; he moved to Dodge City in 1964 and then started working for Central Air in Wichita where he worked on large hospitals, malls, factories, etc. He joined the Sheet Metal Workers International Association L29 Union. Jim and Lois retired to Greensburg to be closer to family in 1993 until the tornado in May of 2007. They lived in Pratt until 2014 then returned to Greensburg.
Jim was a devoted, caring father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather.
Jim was blessed with three surviving daughters, Roberta (Ed) Stauth of Greensburg, Darlene (Gary) Hemphill of Pratt and Barbara (Dale) Housman of Dodge City; six grandchildren, Zandrea (Shannon) Ardery, Gunnar (the Late Jordan) Stauth, Kyle and Kirk Hemphill, Jamie Housman and Joshua (Kelli) Housman; eleven great grandchildren, Taylor (Dru) Twiner, Rustin (Reagan) Ardery, Parker and Claire Stauth, Addyson Hamilton, Blake Siebolt, McKenna, Rylee, Jordan, Paisley and Hunter Housman and Cade Grady; and one great-great grandson, Bridger Twiner.
Jim is proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Lois Adams; parents, Charles and Anna Jewell Adams; siblings, Charles W. Adams Jr, Bertha Parrish, Raymond Adams, Marvin Adams, Harry Adams, Doris Welch Leech, Loretta Bowman Shade and Ina Belle Smith.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 4, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Greensburg. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2021 at First United Methodist Church, Greensburg with "Hyunung Chang" (Pastor Chu) officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Greensburg, Kansas.
