Vernita "Rita" Edith Knuth Clauson, age 75, of Rolette, ND passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 in Trinity Health Center, Minot, ND.
Vernita ?Rita? Edith (Knuth) Clauson was born on October 20, 1932 at rural Balfour to Charlie and Lizzie Knuth. She attended a country school her first eight years, then Drake School graduating in 1951.
In 1958, she married James "Jim" Clauson in Minot, ND. Throughout the years, Rita, Jim and their family moved to several different cities in North Dakota and Crookston, MN. Rita?s employment included Red Owl in Fargo and Minot, and Copy Cat Printing in Grand Forks.
In 1980, Rita and her family moved to Rolette, where she and her husband owned and operated Rolette Super Valu. In 1996, Rita and Jim retired and remained in Rolette.
In her younger years, Rita was a member of the EUB Church in Balfour and Drake. She and her family were also past members of Zion United Methodist Church in Grand Forks and Presbyterian Church in Rolette. Most recently, Rita attended Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Rolette.
Rita loved her family so much. She held them in a special place in her heart. She loved family gatherings and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She touched the lives of so many with her special kindness and gentle ways. She was a devoted wife, caring and loving mother and grandmother, sister and a wonderful friend.
Rita is survived by her husband, Jim of Rolette, ND; sons, Mark (Jody) of Fisher, MN and Jay (Corrine) of Enderlin, ND; daughters, Cherie (Cliff) Heilman of Mandan, ND, Lori (Kermit) Knudson of Rolette, ND, and Kelly (Brian) Jensen of Lake Metigoshe, ND; grandchildren, Tyler, Chase and Kelby Clauson, Nicole, Jacey, Ryan and Jessica Heilman, Jacob, Joshua and Jesse Clauson, Brady Knudson, Nathan, Melissa, Brianna, McKenzie and Ethan Jensen; brother, Donny Knuth; and sisters, Arlene Olson, Videll Kubler and Carolyn Gupta.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lizzie Knuth; brothers, Willis and Marlin Knuth; sister, Elvera Fenner; and nephew, James Olson.
A visitation will be held in the Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren Church, Rolette, ND on Friday, November 2, 2007 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be in the Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren Church, Rolette, ND on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Joel Davis officiating.
Burial will be in the Rolette City Cemetery, Rolette, ND following funeral services.
In lieu of flowers Rita's family would appreciate memorials dedicated to the American Diabetes Association.
