Joan Marie Rentschler, age 56, of Kalamazoo, died on November 30 at Borgess Hospital.

Joan was born on July 1, 1960 in Kalamazoo to Hugh and Katherine Marie (Thomas) Allman. She has lived in the Kalamazoo area all of her life. Joan was a 1978 graduate of Kalamazoo Hackett High School. She then attended and graduated from Davenport College. She has worked at Kalamazoo area Meijer Stores for the past 25 years. She worked at the Gull Road store, South Westnedge store, and at last at the West Main Meijer store. Joan worked in retail management for the company. Due to ill health, she has worked part time at the West Main location the past 7 months.

She was married to David V. Rentschler on July 13, 1996 in Kalamazoo. The couple enjoyed traveling together, especially to Lakeland, Florida the past 14 years where they followed the Detroit Tigers spring training for two weeks. Joan was a big Tigers fan! They also liked trips and trips to northern Michigan. Joan looked to her Wednesdays off when she would spend the day with her twin sister Julie and their mother, a weekly get together they kept for 20 years!

Surviving are her husband David; her step-son Adam Rentschler of Kalamazoo, and her step-daughter Jessica Rentschler of York, PA; her mother Marie Allman of Kalamazoo, her twin sister Julia Anne (Ray) Buck of Kalamazoo, her sisters Lyn (David) Goldberg of Springfield, VA and Mary (Mark) Kovak of Paw Paw, her brothers Mike (Sally) Allman of Fairfax Station, VA, Tom (Jan) Allman of Battle Creek and David Allman of Kalamazoo; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Hugh Allman.

There will be no public services. Arrangements are by Craig K. Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Marshall Chapel.
