Case died Monday in St. Petersburg, Fla., apparently of a heart seizure. He had gone to Florida only a few days earlier.
A native of Dunlap, Ill., Case was graduated from Illinois in 1912 and spent most of his life as a member of the university faculty. He retired from the university in 1958. His widow, Naomi, and three daughters survive.
Case toured Europe for the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Agency in 1944. In 1947 he spent a year as a consultant to the United States Senate Agricultural committee, playing a major role in the Hope Aiken farm Bill, a flexible price support act.
